RARE MID-CENTURY LAMP BY UNO & ÖSTEN KRISTIANSSON FOR LUXUS, SWEDEN – 1960s
This exceptional mid-century lamp was designed in the 1960s by Swedish brothers Uno & Östen Kristiansson for Luxus. Featuring a single light source discreetly hidden within a large acrylic tubular shade, the lamp emits a soft, diffused glow that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The shade is elegantly supported by three tapered teak legs, resulting in a minimalist design that is both timeless and refined.
The use of acrylic glass was a groundbreaking choice at the time, contributing to the lamp’s distinctive character. The tripod base, crafted from oil-treated oak, exemplifies the brothers’ masterful Scandinavian design sensibility. Documented in a vintage Luxus catalogue as model no. 308, this rare piece has become highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
