“Jouyce, the General’s Wife” by Antoni Miralda is a mixed-media work that embodies the artist’s characteristic baroque, kitsch, and festive style, where vibrant colors and everyday objects interact to question social rituals. Miralda, born in 1942 in Terrassa (Barcelona), is known for his installations celebrating food, conviviality, and the deconstruction of cultural symbols, often through collective performances. A pioneer of participatory art and large-scale urban celebrations, he takes universal themes and reinterprets them through symbolic weddings or ritual banquets. Since the 1960s, he has produced numerous happenings and Intercultural projects, guided by an ethnographic curiosity.
His work connects art and everyday life to create pieces in which the public becomes an active participant.
