The grace of the 18th century in miniature. This miniature chair combines two French crafts: the twisted gilded metal structure in the Louis XVI style, with four curved legs joined by stretchers, and two Limoges porcelain medallions with a cobalt midnight blue background, decorated with fine gold. A collector's item that concentrates in just a few centimeters all the elegance of the French gallant style.
Two scenes, two worlds. The oval backrest depicts a gallant scene: an 18th-century gentleman in period attire bowing before a lady in a crinoline, surrounded by flowers, in the style of Watteau and Fragonard. The round seat is adorned with musical attributes: lute, sheet music, flowers — symbols of the refined pleasures of the Ancien Régime. The inscription "Limoges" in gold script appears on each medallion. The reverse of the seat bears the manufacturer's mark in gold on a white background.
