A fantastic vintage handmade brutalist art pottery vase made by the talented and well-known artist Mari Simmulson for the equally famous Upsala Ekeby in the 1960s. It has a dark brown base with fantastic details in the graphic patterns and will be an eye-catching centrepiece. It is signed and in good condition. The rustic ambience of this vase makes it a piece of art. It is 16 cm high and around 11 cm in diameter and in very good condition. Mari Simmulson ( ) was an Estonian-Swedish ceramicist, painter, and textile artist. She worked for Arabia, Gustavsbergs, and Upsala Ekeby, and is one of Scandinavia’s most award-winning artists of her time. Her work is represented in many museums and galleries worldwide and is highly sought after for its bold, contemporary style. Upsala Ekeby was one of Sweden’s leading brands for mid-century modern art pottery, known for hiring top designers and focusing on stylish, functional interior design pieces.
