Elegant Mid-Century Italian design pendant lamp by Renato Toso, produced by Toso Vetreria in Murano, Italy.
The lamp features a beautifully sculptural, hand-crafted glass shade with a distinctive elongated silhouette: a generously rounded lower body flowing into a tall, slightly tapered neck.
The shade is made using the traditional vetro incamiciato technique, in which different layers of glass are fused together layer over layer. The result is a wonderfully soft satin opaline-white finish that gives the lamp its characteristic depth and beautifully diffuses the light when illuminated.
The opaline glass is contrasted by three slender supports and hanging components in blackened brass/metal, giving the piece a particularly elegant and graphic appearance.
The glass is intact and in very good vintage condition, without cracks or significant chips. The metal components show an attractive natural patina consistent with age.
A striking yet understated example of post-war Murano design that works beautifully in both Mid-Century and contemporary interiors.
