Product description
This freestanding writing desk was made in Hungary during the 1960s, a period when Hungarian workshops produced clean, functional case pieces influenced by the broader mid-century modern movement in Central Europe. The desk is designed to be viewed and used from all sides, with an open back fitted with a shelf, and two banks of two drawers with sculpted metal pulls flanking a central kneehole. Tapered legs joined by a cross-stretcher give the piece a light, architectural stance. It suits an office, study nook, or as a freestanding writing table in a living room.
Condition and Character
Original condition with signs of use. The top surface shows scratches and light discoloring consistent with decades of use, there are small chips to the tabletop. The drawers open and close smoothly and the frame remains sturdy and structurally sound.
