A refined mid-century ashwood commode, designed in the spirit of early Dutch modernist furniture, closely related in form and detailing to early Pastoe designs of the 1950s. The cabinet features two shallow drawers above a storage compartment fitted with twin sliding doors. Distinctive cylindrical wooden drawer pulls mounted beneath the drawer fronts introduce a subtle late Art Deco influence, characteristic of the transitional period between pre-war modernism and post-war functionalism. Raised side panels form a practical gallery top, reinforcing its intended use as a dressing or changing commode. Executed in light-toned ash with a clear, expressive grain, the piece is well-proportioned, elegant and restrained, and presents in very good vintage condition with only minor age-related wear. An understated yet sophisticated example of Northern European mid-century design. Dimensions: Height 89 Width 100 Depth 49 cm.
