Description:
A beautiful and authentic piece of French mid-century design. This handmade ceramic bowl with a handle (poêlon) was made and signed by the renowned French master ceramist Alexandre Kostanda (1921–2007) in the famous pottery village of Vallauris, Southern France.
Kostanda is internationally known for his robust, earthy forms and the use of natural glazes. This specific object is a rarer, colorful variation within his oeuvre, beautifully decorated with a hand-painted floral motif (daisies and cornflowers).
The handle is hollow and features a generous hanging opening, making this object perfect for hanging on the wall as a unique wall plate or decorative design piece.
The object is in excellent vintage condition, and the signature "A. Kostanda Vallauris" is clearly legible, scratched into the clay on the underside. Specifications:
