Toni Zuccheri worked in the 1970s on a Membrane Series for Venini. This collection was then introduced at the Venice Biennale of 1972. In this series, he demonstrates craftsmanship and skill working with Murano glass. By working with two hemispheres, where the inner layer is made of milky opaline glass and the outer of crystalline glass, he creates an optical illusion. This is how the membrane is formed, which creates a beautiful light effect. The bowl lampshade has acquired a couple of minor scratches inside its glass layers through the years. The base is made from chromed metal and shows a light patina consistent with its age and use.
