This striking accent lamp is based on an original fireplace vase by Scheurich Keramik – West German Pottery – from the 1960s/70s. Its clear, blocky form and the softly blended glaze in light brown on a deep brown background make it a typical example of the German Fat Lava era. The compact, sculptural shape lends the lamp a serene, architectural presence. This vase shape was very popular from the 1960s onward and was called a "fireplace vase" because its neck resembles a chimney.
The lampshade (25 cm in diameter) is covered with high-quality Japanese cotton fabric and comes from Roomlight Studio. The traditional dragon motif in blue, cream, and subtle red tones unfolds a special depth in the warm light. Dragons are a popular motif in Japanese mythology, representing strength, energy, and protection. The fabric's texture remains visible, adding a textile warmth to the room. The Far Eastern pattern creates a striking contrast to the minimalist, West German ceramic design – this interplay is precisely what gives this lamp its unique character.
