A magnificent and exceptionally rare monumental Mid-Century Modern chandelier, designed by Carlo Nason and manufactured by A.V. Mazzega on Murano, Italy, circa 1970. This is a highly sought-after architectural XL project model, originally commissioned for large reception halls, theaters, or modernist villas with high ceilings. The chandelier features an impressive ceiling fixture of heavy chrome-plated steel in a characteristic ‘tubular/candlestick’ design, with a diameter of 39 cm. The structure houses 6 light points, enclosed by polished vertical tubes. These tubes function as internal light reflectors, directing light both upwards and downwards, maximizing the visual depth and presence of the fixture. Suspended from this structure are exactly 91 hand-blown Murano glass spheres, distributed across cascading strands that together form a spectacular cascade. The glass is crafted using the legendary pulegoso technique, in which thousands of tiny, volcanic-looking air bubbles are trapped within the opalescent glass. When the chandelier is illuminated, this creates a breathtakingly soft and diffused light effect, reminiscent of a floating nebula or star constellation.
