The Serpente is an iconic designer lamp designed by the Italian Elio Martinelli in 1965. The lamp is a symbol of Italian design from the 1960s and is known for its innovative use of materials and organic forms.
Here are the key features:
Swivel arm: The name "Serpente" (Italian for snake) stems from the dynamic construction. The upper arm can rotate 180 degrees around the central axis, giving the lamp a wavy, snake-like shape.
Choice of material: The design used methyl methacrylate (a type of plastic) for the diffuser, which was a revolutionary new material in the 1960s. The base and arms are usually made of lacquered metal.
The floor lamp is approximately 120 cm high with a diameter of 55 cm. Light distribution: Thanks to the white opal shade, the lamp emits a soft, diffused light, making it ideal as mood lighting in both modern and classic interiors.
