Original vintage Martinelli Luce Lampara pendant lamp, model 1849, designed by Elio Martinelli and made in Italy. An iconic piece of Italian lighting design, the Lampara is characterised by its beautifully simple, oversized dome-shaped shade and graphic black suspension. This particular example comes in a striking and rarely seen glossy yellow finish, giving the minimalist design a much more playful presence. The lamp retains its original Martinelli Luce label, marked MOD. 1849 – 220V – 1x100W – Made in Italy. The model dates from the 1960s/1970s. Period references identify the Lampara 1849 as an Elio Martinelli design from around 1965, while later examples were produced throughout the 1970s.
