We are faced with a superb example of the Shogun floor lamp, a piece that has marked the history of postmodern design. Created in 1986 from the collaboration between the brilliant Swiss architect Mario Botta and the prestigious Italian company Artemide, this lamp is not a simple lighting object, but a true luminous sculpture.
Materials and Structure:
The base, made of black-painted cast iron, gives the object solid stability and a strong visual impact. From it rises the metal stem, whose surface is characterized by the iconic black and white horizontal band motif, a recurring stylistic signature in Botta's work.
The Diffuser:
The Shogun's true distinctiveness lies in its innovative diffuser. It is composed of two semi-cylindrical elements made of perforated sheet steel and painted white.
