Sci-Fi Vase by Marc Newson for Cor Unum, 1993, Black Glazed Ceramic, Signed, Rare
For sale: Sci-Fi vase in black, designed by Australian designer Marc Newson for the Dutch manufacturer Cor Unum Ceramics & Art, 1993. New in its original box, in good condition. Printed signature and Cor Unum stamp visible on the base.
The black Sci-Fi is an extremely rare piece: produced only by special order at the time of its creation, it is considerably rarer than the white version, which is already very difficult to find on the collector's market.
Its organic and futuristic form in glossy black glazed ceramic, with a wide body and multiple openings inspired by the Helice floor lamp designed by Newson for Flos, makes it as much a sculpture as a decorative object, with a striking presence and character. The piece was produced in a very small series before the bankruptcy of Cor Unum.
