An exceptional German leather lounge chair from circa 1970, crafted in beautiful cognac-colored leather and equipped with a fully integrated audio system. The chair was presumably custom-made by a cabinetmaker and is exceptionally solidly and high-quality constructed. The design is strongly reminiscent of the famous Robin Day ‘Leo’ lounge chair for Hille, of which very rare versions with integrated speakers are also known. Furthermore, the Robin Day Leo was used in the James Bond film You Only Live Twice (1967). This chair is emphatically not offered as a Robin Day/Hille, but represents a beautiful and interesting contemporary with a similar futuristic concept. What makes this armchair so special are the two large integrated speakers positioned next to the head. This creates a kind of personal listening space while seated – a typical example of the fascination with integrated technology and Space Age design from this period. The armchair is upholstered in thick cognac-colored leather with button tufting, substantial upholstered armrests, and a metal swivel base. The leather features a beautiful, authentic patina and signs of wear consistent with its age. A fantastic conversation piece and a special collector's item for lovers of 60s/70s design, vintage audio, Space Age furniture, and James Bond interiors.
