The Hyggebord 55 low coffee table was produced by the Danish manufacturer Gorm Møbler in 1956. The rounded top is crafted from high-quality teak, and the slender legs are made of afromosia. This table has an open shelf under the top. The shelf is made from brass and has a ladder shape. The combination of these materials gives the table a light form and, despite its simple design, a sculptural character. The Danish philosophy of Hygge, from which the table is named, signifies warmth, coziness, and harmony. The table will fit perfectly into many interiors, transporting any place to the golden age of Scandinavian design during the Mid-Century Modern era. The signature is on the bottom side of the tabletop.
Gorm Møbler is a small, artisanal manufacturer from Denmark. They specialized in teak and oak furniture. The most recognizable designer to collaborate with Gorm was Christian Sørensen, the creator of the iconic armchair with extendable footstool.
The table is in original, very good vintage condition, with minor signs of age-related wear.
