Rare adjustable lounge armchair, manufactured by Móveis Gerdau in Porto Alegre, Brazil, circa 1950. The armchair is made of bent and laminated wood and combines the elegant, curved lines characteristic of Gerdau's production. The backrest can be adjusted to various positions, while the integrated footrest folds forward, transforming the armchair into an elongated recliner. The flowing, curved armrests form a continuous line along the sides of the armchair and give the piece a distinctive profile. The functional construction and understated organic forms place the armchair in the context of the development of Brazilian furniture design around the mid-20th century. The armchair still bears the original Móveis Gerdau / Walter Gerdau manufacturer's label from Porto Alegre. DxHxL: 90x100x63 cm Seat height: 30 cm In original vintage condition with visible wear, scratches, color variations, and patina consistent with age and use. These traces have been preserved as part of the history and character of the chair.
