Louis XVI style chiseled bronze wall sconce with a green opaline glass shade, circa 1900
● The subtly balanced, arched arm is adorned with an engraved Greek key pattern, extended by a meticulously rendered acanthus leaf motif.
● The wall rosette, with its radiating pattern, structures the piece with precision and lends it an architectural presence.
● It is topped with a molded opaline glass shade featuring:
- the "Froufrou" technique: The pinched and undulating border is clearly visible. On period pieces, this work was done by hand on the molten glass, which explains the slight asymmetries that give the object its unique charm.
- Satin (Frosted) Glass: The "diamond point" or crosshatch texture is very precise. It does more than just decorate; it fragments the light to prevent glare while maintaining excellent brightness.
The whole piece is a refined decorative element, ideal for a Haussmannian interior, a collector's display, or a demanding interior design project.
