Louis XV period mirror (circa 1750), made of carved wood gilded with gold leaf, featuring finely executed ornamentation typical of the Rococo style.
The mirror, slightly weathered and pitted, is originally mercury glass.
Upper pediment: decorated with a basket of fruit (grape bunches and vine foliage), a symbol of abundance and fertility, a very popular motif in the first half of the 18th century.
Frame: hand-carved decoration of volutes, foliage, shells, and acanthus foliage in an asymmetrical composition typical of the Rococo style. Gilding: Gold leaf on a red base, with a beautiful original patina
Mirror: Antique mercury mirror, pitted, not replaced
Back: Antique solid wood paneling
