Wébé, Louis van Teeffelen XL extendable dining table
Louis van Teeffelen, the designer (on behalf of Wébé) of this dining table, hardly needs further introduction. He was certainly ahead of his time and designed highly progressive furniture at the time.
This table is a beautiful example of this, offering both the furniture world and its users a completely new model. Not a round table with a pivoting top, not an extendable round table with an intermediate top, but a rectangular table with two rounded ends formed the basis for this unique model, which we rarely see.
Underneath the two straight pieces, a structure was built to extend the table into a round model with a total diameter of 140 cm. As mentioned, extremely rare in 2026. A "normal" round table is usually 100 centimeters in diameter, and occasionally you still see a table with a diameter of 120 centimeters. This Louis van Teeffelen table is 140 centimeters tall and, in our opinion, certainly suitable for seating 5 to 6 people.
If your living room or kitchen is suitable for a rectangular table that also offers enough space for a large round table of 1.40 meters, then this is your chance. The table is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear commensurate with its age. The entire piece has been fully restored in our own workshop.
Please take a look at the photos for an even better impression. The quality delivered by Wébé guarantees years of enjoyment from this beautiful dining table, which will also prove to be a stylish and very durable investment that will retain its value for years to come.
Finally, the website Louisvanteeffelen.nl states the following about this table:
Typical is the visually floating effect of tabletops and seats, or the freestanding effect of backrests and legs. Tabletops and seats often appear floating due to inconspicuous connecting beams in the center of the top.
Louis designed a round table with two side panels instead of a pivoting top, which are concealed beneath the top and extendable. The table measures 140 cm in diameter when extended. When retracted, it measures 140x82 cm. The legs are characteristic of all dining tables. These are placed diagonally between the rails. The rails widen at the legs for better construction and strength.
