Before bank cards and digital payments, these currencies passed from hand to hand in markets, shops, and villages across West Africa. They tell a discreet story, one of daily life, exchanges, and the generations who used them. This lot brings together nine authentic currencies from the West African Monetary Union, dated between 1970 and 1981. Lot composition: 4 x 100 Francs CFA coins (1970, 1976, 1980, and 1981), 4 x 50 Francs CFA coins (1970s and 1980s), 1 x 25 Francs CFA coin dated 1970. The different dates allow for a coherent and representative set from this period in African monetary history. The coins show a natural patina and traces of wear consistent with their age.
