The Lord Yi dining table, designed by Philippe Starck for Driade in 1996, reflects Starck’s characteristic balance between industrial clarity and subtle irony. Conceived as a contemporary interpretation of the classical pedestal table, the design reduces form to its essential geometry while maintaining a strong sculptural presence.
The table is defined by its central aluminium column and wide, flared base, creating visual stability and a sense of grounded elegance. The rectangular SAN tabletop appears to float above the structure, its clean edge profile reinforcing the restrained, architectural quality of the piece. The dialogue between the cool metal base and the smooth synthetic surface gives the table a refined yet pragmatic character.
