Our cat (not for sale) is demonstrating here a large vintage plywood café bench or station bench, marked Schauman Made In Finland Jyväskylä. Schauman was a factory in Jyväskylä, Finland, where plywood furniture was made in the Thonet tradition. The bench is likely from the 1960s and made of birch wood (?), and is in reasonable condition, except for the four thin seats: they are a bit wobbly. You can still sit on it, but it would be best to knock out the seats and replace them – we had a sturdy cushion placed across the entire width to distribute the weight, and that worked fine. The backrest is still nice and the bench is otherwise quite sturdy, but could use a sanding. The photos don't do the furniture justice! It is very difficult to photograph… Please note: bidding starts at € 100.
