Shirley E. Witebsky (1925-1966), an American artist born in Minneapolis, was both a printmaker and a sculptor.
Trained at the University of Minnesota, she continued her career in France at Atelier 17 under the direction of Stanley William Hayter.
She distinguished herself through both her prints and sculptures, which are featured in prestigious collections such as those of the British Museum and the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris.
Her sensitive and organic work reflects an attachment to form and transformation, major themes of the lithograph "Metamorphosis."
