A striking duo by Italian design maestro Lino Sabattini for Rosenthal Studio Line, this pair of tall white candleholders embodies the sculptural minimalism that defined the artist’s late oeuvre. Produced in Germany in the 1980s as part of the "Pianta" series, the design reflects Sabattini’s signature architectural clarity and tactile restraint.
Each piece features the unmistakable Y-split opening and elongated fluted silhouette—hallmarks of the Pianta line—realized here in matte white porcelain with glazed interiors. Elegant yet bold, their presence evokes the lyricism of Italian modernism paired with German manufacturing precision.
Sabattini, a self-taught designer born in Correggio in 1925, rose to international fame for his radical metalwork and collaborations with Gio Ponti. His move to porcelain in partnership with Rosenthal allowed him to translate his vision into new material form—still poetic, still pure. Sabattini’s pieces are included in major museum collections worldwide, and his work with Rosenthal marks a high point in late 20th-century European design.
The candleholders are in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of age. A rare opportunity to acquire a matching pair from one of the most elegant series in the Rosenthal Studio Line portfolio. Highly collectible and effortlessly timeless.
