Elegant Armchair by Ligna, Czechoslovakia – 1950s/1960s
Produced by Ligna, the Eastern European branch of Thonet, known for its high-quality furniture.
The original design of this chair was created in the 1920s by Josef Hoffmann for Thonet, and Ligna later reissued this successful model in the mid-20th century.
Note: In a separate listing, two matching side chairs are available — perfect if you would like to create a stylish set of three.
The chair features a solid bent beechwood frame.
Both the backrest and seat have been newly re-caned in rattan — a very detailed and costly restoration due to the large woven surfaces.
An original manufacturer’s mark can be found under the seat.
