For sale is an iconic mid-century Scandinavian classic: the "Grandessa" high-back armchair. Designed in 1962 by Lena Larsson for the renowned Swedish manufacturer Nesto (Nässjö Stolfabrik).
This chair features striking, sculptural lines, sweeping armrests, and an elegant spindle backrest. The underside of the solid wooden seat retains its completely legible and authentic crisp white factory stamp, stating "Nesto - Made in Nässjö / Sweden".
Please note that this piece was originally manufactured as a Grandessa rocking chair and at some point in time has been converted into a stationary lounge armchair by neatly removing the bottom rocker rails. It now sits perfectly flat, stable, and secure on the floor.
The chair is structurally robust, solid, and safe to sit in. It shows clear signs of age and wear that add to its authentic vintage character. There are paint abrasions and faded patches along the armrests and edges, as well as scratches on the black finish of the sitting surface. Please review the detailed photos carefully. It can be enjoyed exactly as it is for its rustic mid-century look, or it would serve as an easy project for a light re-lacquering.
