Kono coffee table designed by Lella and Massimo Vignelli for Casigliani, Italy, circa 1984. The striking design is reduced to a precise composition of geometric forms and contrasting materials. A chrome plated cone and rectangular marble block support a thick glass top, creating an intentionally asymmetrical balance that feels both architectural and sculptural. The thick glass allows the supporting forms to remain visible beneath the surface. The reflecting chrome of the cone contrasts beautifully with the calm marble which features a beautiful soft veining, giving the table depth with rich materials without making the composition feel heavy. The Kono design was developed during the Vignellis’ collaboration with Casigliani and reflects their disciplined approach to geometry, proportion and material
