Lejan Art Deco Ceramic Fish Sculpture

A striking Art Deco fish sculpture by French artist Lejan, distinguished by its elegant streamlined silhouette and beautifully balanced proportions. Executed in faience and finished in a delicate, very pale blush-pink glaze, the piece perfectly captures the refined decorative spirit of the Art Deco period.
Lejan was a French sculptor active during the Art Deco era, best known for his stylised animal figures in glazed and craquelé earthenware. His expressive yet simplified designs, some of which were produced by the Faïencerie d’Orchies, are characteristic of French decorative arts of the 1930s.
The surface displays an attractive overall craquelure, which enhances its authentic vintage character. The sculpture remains in good antique condition, with a couple of small chips visible in the photographs and consistent with its age.
