There is something profoundly peaceful, almost timeless, about this statue. Saint Joseph steps forward slightly, his gaze uplifted, as if caught in a moment of contemplation. Nothing is frozen. The movement is gentle, natural, and it is precisely this that gives the piece its full power. This is a production from the late 19th century or very early 20th century, a period when such religious figures accompanied daily life in homes, bedrooms, and and small family altars. They were not merely decorative. They were present, discreet, almost familiar. The drapery work is particularly revealing. The folds fall gracefully, without stiffness, enveloping the silhouette with simple elegance. The base, subtly undulating, supports the whole without heaviness, in a very harmonious balance. The lily resting on the shoulder, a traditional symbol of Saint Joseph, is still clearly visible. It provides an immediate interpretation of the figure, while maintaining great sobriety. Nothing is excessive, everything is contained, which enhances the piece's emotion. The white, matte material gently captures the light. Over time, it has acquired a natural, irregular patina that tells the story of its past years. This is not a new object. It is an object that has lived, that has passed through the decades, and that is immediately palpable. Condition: Old, with visible traces of time. Missing on one hand. Soiling and wear from use.
