Large vintage elephant, rare sculpture in this size, made of papier maché and covered with black leather, the elephant has white plastic tusks and plastic eyes, completely in the style of Omersa of Liberty of London, circa 70-80s. Banana for scale!
This statue has very nice proportions and details, the muscles and bones are nicely and accurately rendered, the whole thing bears a nice age patina. These types of statues clad in leather exist in various sizes and species, including giraffes, elephants, lions, panthers, rhinos, hippos, dromedaries and many other species. These figurines have a high collectible value and are in high demand, especially the large ones.
This elephant is in very good vintage condition, with signs of age and use consistent with age, some light damage to the tail, but nothing disturbing, check the photos for more details!
