The "TV Modular 161" modular lounge set, designed by Hans Olsen in 1957 for Bramin in Denmark, is a large ensemble comprising a three-seater bench, two two-seater benches, four armchairs, and a small table. Each armchair has a seat and back cushion. Three additional large cushions are included to create a daybed.
Aesthetically pleasing and practical, with a distinctly Japanese style, this set is fully modular. It allows for multiple configurations. The seats can be placed on the benches or freely on the floor for a more relaxed setting, offering different seating heights.
Combining practical design with an innovative use of materials thanks to its woven caning, this set was made famous by the "Bass House" model home in California, designed for the industrial and graphic designer Saul Bass. This piece is a testament to modern construction methods for creating affordable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing homes: furnished almost entirely with Bramin furniture, including this superb "TV Modular 161" unit.
