Product description
A very beautiful painting, a seascape of cliffs, oil on antique wood, signed Ruben lower left - Paul RUBEN (1882-1955) - framed in a very attractive, elegant frame with wide, light-colored, unfinished wood moldings. Magnificent colors enhanced with turquoise, a very luminous painting.
Panel only 46x33cm landscape format, with frame 55x43cm total, 4cm thick. In very good overall condition, however, the painting shows some fine oil cracks across the surface, due in particular to the wood grain, a few small stains in the upper left corner, some areas of visible wood grain, wear or originality, a very discreet small hole at the top center, probably from a previous hanging. The frame is very clean with slight wood grain in the corners, a large hanging hook on the back. A harmonious piece overall. This may be one of the artist's early works, as the "P" in the signature is not present, perhaps dating from the 1920s or 1930s. Approximately 1.500-2kg.
