Everything in this sculpture evokes movement and elegance. The heron appears to glide on imaginary water, its neck delicately stretched and wings widely spread, as if captured in the moment just before it takes flight. Crafted from natural horn, this piece reveals the full talent of the artisan who skillfully utilized the nuances offered by the material. The gradations of ivory, honey, brown, and black are not painted; they are the natural result of the horn itself. Each piece is thus unique, the natural veins forming a plumage that the hand of man has only revealed. Highly prized from the 1960s to the 1980s, this horn work demanded great mastery. Shaping a living material, polishing it to achieve that satin luster while preserving its natural nuances, required patience and precision. Today, these artisanal creations are increasingly sought after for their authenticity and unique character. Dimensions approximately 28 cm long by 20 cm high. The base bears the hand-engraved signature "Cerdon", recalling the artisanal nature of this creation.
