❤ Majestic Napoleon III period mantel clock, dating from the 19th century, in the Rococo style.
An exceptional piece, imposing in both size and weight (8 kg), testifying to superior craftsmanship. This clock combines the strength of bronze with the delicacy of gilded spelter, and is in excellent condition.
❤ Detailed analysis of the decoration:
● Top: Baluster vase with gadroons, framed by two magnificent winged female busts (stylized caryatids).
● Sides: Imposing lion heads in relief with movable handles, a high-end finishing detail that testifies to the quality of the casting.
● Base: Wide Rococo plinth worked with motifs of scrolls, shells, and laurel swags, resting on four feet with chiseled volutes.
❤ Technical Specifications and Condition:
● Movement: Period brass movement, numbered plate 18615. Original brass bell and balance wheel are present inside.
● Dial: White enamel that has acquired an elegant ivory-yellow patina over time, highlighting its age. Arabic numerals and minute track are legible. The original domed front glass is very well preserved.
● Access: Hinged back door allowing access to the movement.
● Accessory: Sold with its original winding key.
