Product description
Important antique mirror with an architectural pediment, carved and gilded wood, a high-quality decorative work.
The frame is richly decorated with plant motifs, scrolls, friezes, and foliage, with chamfered corners and deep moldings.
The pediment features an ornamental basin framed by symmetrical foliage, typical of the French classical decorative repertoire.
The gilding, probably originally gold leaf, now displays a beautiful antique patina, with wear and repairs consistent with the age of the piece.
The glass is old, with minor imperfections (pitting/marks), but no major cracks or chips, contributing to the overall authenticity. The back of the pediment has been reinforced, as have some other parts. A few old wormholes are visible, but it remains in good overall condition considering its age.
This mirror, in the Napoleon III style with Louis XVI influences, likely dates from the late 19th century. It is decorative and striking, suitable for a classic interior, a period home, a shop, or a distinctive design project.
