A delightful and striking pair of large mid-century modern wall sconces (applique) designed by Gaetano Sciolari for Mazzega. These sculptural pieces were masterfully crafted on the famous island of Murano in Venice, Italy, circa 1970.
True statement pieces of 1970s Italian design, these sconces feature high-quality Murano glass work with beautiful layered gradients of transparent, white, yellow, and vibrant orange. The glass components are elegantly mounted on a sleek, silver-toned satin metal structure. When illuminated, the vibrant colors create an incredibly warm, theatrical, and atmospheric glow.
Excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of wear consistent with age. The Murano glass elements are perfectly intact with no cracks or chips. The satin metal frame is solid and clean. Fully functional and ready to be installed.
