Large glazed earthenware dish, suitable for use or wall decoration, with an incised design of fish and seaweed. The sgraffito technique (incisions in the clay to reveal the underlying color) and cloisonné enamels are typical of the decorative arts of this period, with gold highlights on the edges and motifs. The textured, powdery salmon pink background features black and gold motifs in a "Retro" or "Mid-Century Modern" style.
Signed in relief on the back "Tony Jaillet Chalon S/S - Handmade." A renowned ceramicist from Chalon-sur-Saône (1950s-1960s) known for his glazed earthenware work.
