With its deep red set against ivory faience, this large deep dish from the Moulin des Loups manufacture possesses all the charm of French tables from the interwar period. The 'Thibault Rouge' design features a particularly graphic composition. A bouquet of stylized flowers fills the center, while a wide red frieze graces the rim. The design, almost stencil-cut, reflects this period when French manufacturers modernized traditional floral motifs under the influence of Art Deco. The piece bears on its reverse the stamp of the French manufacture Moulin des Loups in Orchies, as well as the 'Thibault Rouge' design name. Founded in Northern France, the Orchies faience factory is part of this great industrial and decorative history that introduced elegant and colorful tableware into French homes in the early 20th century. Its generous diameter of approximately 28 cm and truly deep shape make it a beautiful serving dish. It can naturally find its place on a table, but its sufficiently assertive graphic design also allows it to be imagined displayed in an antique kitchen, on a dresser, or alongside a collection of French faience.
