A beautiful decorative faience piece, where Boch's craftsmanship meets the evocative imagery of Dutch landscapes. This large dish, approximately 30.5 cm in diameter, is part of the Delfts series produced by Boch Belgium for Royal Sphinx Holland in the 1970s. Its blue monochrome decoration reproduces a work by the Dutch painter George Jan Hendrik Poggenbeek ( ), an artist associated with the Hague School and particularly esteemed for his rural landscapes imbued with calm and light. At the center unfolds a true Dutch countryside scene: a reed-lined canal, a small boat moored near the bank, a farm half-hidden behind a tree, and, above all, an elegant drawbridge around which the entire perspective is organized. A lone wanderer on the path adds that small human presence to the composition, immediately bringing the landscape to life. The particularly intricate border frames the scene with a rich floral decoration and Delft blue arabesques. The whole piece possesses that graphic depth characteristic of large blue and white decorative items: from a distance, the plate structures a wall or a composition; up close, it reveals a multitude of small details. The inscription "G. Poggenbeek" visible in the landscape corresponds to the reproduction of the artist's signature on the original work that served as a model. It is therefore not a handwritten signature applied directly to the dish. On the reverse, the blue mark "Made for Royal Sphinx Holland – by Boch Belgium – Delfts" allows for clear identification of this production, associating two major names in European faience. A particularly attractive piece for collectors of Boch, Royal Sphinx, Delft faience, and Dutch decorations, but also a very beautiful decorative object to display alone on a wall, on an antique dresser, or integrated into a composition of blue and white faience.
