Two Cocker Spaniels is an original color print, lithograph in color in a dark wooden frame with glass, work by the famous French sports artist Leon Danchin (1887-1938), signed in pencil, first half of the 20th century, France. At the back an inscription, this work was gifted from father to son in the year 1981 in Ghent.
Leon Danchin, born in 1887 in Lille, France, began his career as an artist at the age of 16 when he was admitted to the Salon des Artistes in Paris. He eventually became known as one of the best French artists, specializing in birds, dogs and horses, and is still highly regarded today. During his lifetime, he produced more than one hundred etchings and lithographs, focusing mainly, but not exclusively, on the sport of animals in the field. He was also a talented painter and sculptor.
This work is in good vintage condition, with some age marks on the paper such as yellowing, and light age and use marks on the wooden frame, check the photos for more details!
