Very distinctive and impressive Murano hand-blown glass single-light ceiling lantern from the 1950s!
The lantern consists of a thick yellow/gold blown glass body with the particular Bulicante workmanship.
The frame is made of brass and has a beautiful and minute relief decoration, classic of the period.
Bulicante glass is a thick glass that has tiny air bubbles inside it that follow regular patterns.
This processing is very special: to create this effect, glassmakers put the molten glass into a special mold with metal spikes.
It is then submerged with another layer of glass and in this process the air bubbles are trapped inside. Like the Sommerso, the Bulicante glass is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s.
