Product description
Charles Valton Mastiff Bronze Dog. Very impressive piece, highly detailed. The clasp that holds the chain to the dog's collar is also cast bronze. This beautiful sculpture, finished with a dark brown patina, is a powerful subject, as the dog jumps on his chain in these controversial times. Valton was particularly interested in Mastiffs and these are among his most famous works. This nineteenth-century movement showed animals with realistic anatomy in action.
