*Large “Battuto” Murano Vase with Coral *Incamiciato* Interior — Possible Tiozzo Sergio, unsigned, presumably 1980s*
A compelling example of late 20th-century Murano artistry, this imposing vase (30 cm × 28 cm) blends rigorous technique with dramatic form. The deep-black cold-worked exterior, carved in rhythmic flutes, evokes the *battuto* tradition — a tactile homage to metalwork. Within, a vivid coral-orange *incamiciato* core emerges from the mouth, creating a bold chromatic contrast.
Although unsigned, the vase strongly suggests the hand of **Tiozzo Sergio**, later taken forward by his son Claudio — a workshop recognized for masterful cold-working, precise layering of vibrant interiors and sculptural forms. Comparable spherical vases by Tiozzo appear in museum collections, making this piece a rare, large-scale extension of their oeuvre.
