The Sarreguemines manufactory, founded in Moselle at the end of the 18th century, is one of the largest and most famous French faience factories. Its creations, renowned for the quality of their glaze and the delicacy of their decorations, have graced French tables for two centuries. This large deep dish belongs to the Saverne series, produced in the 1950s-1960s. Its decoration combines two distinct and complementary elements: in the center, a bouquet of two blossoming roses in shades of old rose and deep pink, with finely shaded petals, accompanied by dark green foliage. On the rim, a burgundy geometric frieze alternates solid squares and cross motifs, lending the piece an understated and structured elegance. The immaculate white background highlights the richness of the floral decoration and the precision of the frieze. The mark on the reverse, stamped Sarreguemines France with the crowned crest and the decoration name Saverne, unambiguously confirms its origin and series. With its 31 cm diameter, it is a generous and well-proportioned deep dish. It lends itself equally well to serving or decorative use, displayed on a china cabinet or integrated into a composition of antique faience. Very good general condition, without visible damage. A beautiful signed piece of French faience, for lovers of antique tableware and French-style decor.
