A very beautiful jar, a demijohn, shaped like a large, bulbous bottle with a single handle, made of Normandy stoneware (Calvados), dating from the 1920s-1930s. Hand-thrown and glazed, it features an elegant neck with a simple handle. The glaze on one side, front and back, is in shades of wine lees and burgundy, with a brilliant, silvery luster. One side is more rustic, revealing the gray of the stoneware underneath, while the other is a darker, more muted brown/black. Beautiful variations in color.
Approximately 30cm in total height, 15cm in maximum diameter, with a narrower base and slightly flattened sides. In very good condition considering its age, with a few minor imperfections and signs of wear, all relatively discreet. A harmonious piece, a lovely decorative object. Approximately 1.5kg.
