In this large serving bowl, one finds all the nostalgic charm of old family tables, of those ample pieces that were brought out daily and which, more than a century after their creation, naturally find their place in our contemporary interiors. Made of antique faience, it first captivates with its proportions. With its approximately 30 cm in diameter and nearly 8 cm in height, it possesses a generous depth and a remarkable presence, quite different from that of a simple deep dish. On the lightly speckled white ground, a delicate bouquet of carnations and wildflowers unfolds, in shades of old rose, mauve, and orange, accompanied by long green leaves and fine reddish-brown tendrils. The decor, intentionally off-center, allows much of the faience surface to remain unadorned and gives it an almost contemporary elegance. Away from the main bouquet, a small isolated flower punctuates the composition with charming lightness. The reverse also tells of the piece's age. Its broad, unglazed footrim, marked by time and use, contrasts with the glazed faience and attests to its antique manufacture. No maker's mark is present. Its profile, manufacture, and the nature of its decor lead us to place it at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, around . On a large wooden table, an antique sideboard, or at the center of a contemporary kitchen, it can hold fruits, dried flowers, or simply remain empty. Its understated lines and floral decor are enough to make it a true decorative piece. It shows the natural signs of wear of an antique piece, with a lovely patina acquired over time. Excellent overall condition given its age, with no major visible damage.
