Magnificent table lamp, model NA 3972, by Josep Maria Magem for Madom.
Spain, 1971.
A very rare and limited-production model.
On display, among other places, at the Barcelona Design Museum. (Photos)
Large sphere in brown lacquered metal.
It rests on a cylindrical base in brown lacquered metal, covered in velvet.
The sphere, with its wide opening, allows light to pass through easily.
It can be positioned in various ways on its base, offering different possibilities and allowing you to direct the light.
A slit around the edge allows a soft beam of light to pass through.
The base houses the switch, which is a dimmer.
It allows you to adjust the intensity.
Chocolate brown color.
Height: 36 cm.

Josep Maria Magem:
Josep Maria Magem (Sabadell, 1941-2017) developed his career in interior architecture and furniture design, particularly in the field of lighting.
From the 1960s onward, he worked for the company Marset, and later for Madom.
Magem created a series of highly modern pieces with complex geometric forms, primarily in metal, distinguished by chrome plating and a distinctive use of color and finishes.
Magem defined himself as a designer-craftsman.
The context in which he developed his work at that time, the lack of material and production resources, made it difficult to realize the formal and technical challenges he set for himself.
Magem applied material manipulation processes to artisanal techniques and succeeded in producing pieces of great technical complexity and formal beauty.
