Lakro Louvre Pendant Lamp 1960s Chrome Orange
A Dutch 1960s pendant lamp with a Swedish touch. The Lakro pendant lamp or stack lamp consists of aluminum discs stacked on top of each other, with the discs mirrored from the halfway point upwards. Orange on the inside and entirely aluminum on the outside.
The lamps are produced by Lakro Amstelveen (LAmpen & KROnen), but bear a striking resemblance to the Swedish Travas lamps by Carl Thore/Granhaga Metallindustri.
The aluminum discs of the Lakro pendant lamp are stacked symmetrically, with each successive ring being just slightly larger (or smaller). Each ring has a raised edge, and between each ring is a small groove through which light can escape. Furthermore, each ring has an orange-colored coating. Combine these elements, and a unique lighting effect is created.
Because the lamp consists mainly of aluminum, the Lakro is a very lightweight pendant lamp. Ideal for somewhat more fragile ceilings or lighter suspension points. The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, but has a few small, inconspicuous dents and some patina on the ring holders on the inside of the lamp. The lamp comes with a new LED.
